The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, is set to host a Grand Audition on Wednesday at the historic Ikorodu Town Hall, marking a major milestone in the ongoing Eko Studio Culture Masterclass a free, two-month intensive training programme designed to empower emerging creatives across Lagos. The Masterclass, which focuses on music production, sound engineering, movie scoring, and DJing — with the DJing stream exclusively reserved for female participants, has continued to gain massive attention within the creative community. Wednesday’s Grand Audition will adopt international audition standards, as a fully equipped, industry-grade music studio will be curated on-site for the exclusive use of participants. The judging panel will feature respected industry leaders drawn from Lagos’ thriving music and film ecosystem. In addition to the core auditions, the event will include live music performances, a talent hunt segment, karaoke, games, and other interactive activities aimed at showcasing creativity and encouraging collaboration among young talents. This initiative underscores Lagos State’s commitment to closing the skills gap in the creative economy by providing access to high-quality training, mentorship, and hands-on studio experience, all at no cost to participants. It represents another significant step toward nurturing the next generation of music and sound professionals who will shape the future of Lagos’ globally recognised entertainment sector. Speaking on the development, the Honourable Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe expressed his excitement about the programme, describing it as a strong reaffirmation of the government’s unwavering support for initiatives that uplift and empower young creatives According to him, “Programmes like the Eko Studio Culture initiative are essential for driving innovation, stimulating job creation, and advancing sustainable youth development. This administration will not rest on its oars in building a Lagos where young people are equipped with the right skills to compete globally.” The Eko Studio Culture Masterclass is one of the flagship capacity-building projects under the Ministry’s youth empowerment agenda, aligning with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision to build a vibrant, inclusive, and innovation-driven economy for Lagos.
