Is it possible to NOT a pay a ticket? I am not interested in the inside tour. I am interested in just seeing each mansions property and outside, getting some photos and moving on. Its confusing online because the tickets seem for INSIDE tours? But is it free to just admire from the outside? Thanks

Your best option is to buy a ticket. The tickets help the Newport Preservation Society maintain the homes. Tickets also help control access to the carefully tended gardens and grounds. However, you are able to see some of the mansions' grounds and exteriors from The Cliff Walk. The grounds are private so please don't trespass. Multiple ticket options are available and provide the best way to experience these amazing "cottages".
Hi. When my wife and I went to the mansions around Christmas time, we were told that if we save our tickets we could show them to the ticket seller and pay $5.00 towards tickets to either visit them again or visit another mansion. Is this actually true?
