Trowbridge Museum and Art Gallery tells the story of the 'Manchester of the West'. Trowbridge was the biggest centre of West of England woollen cloth in the country. It supplied America and Daniel Defoe in the eighteenth century and designer Mary Quant in the swinging sixties. West of England cloth has clothed Royalty including Queen Mary, Prince George Duke of Kent and Edward VIII.
