Matthew Muller, featured in the Netflix documentary 'American Nightmare,' was charged with another home invasion in the Bay Area, the second time in recent weeks that new crimes have been attributed to the convicted kidnapper.

Matthew Muller, already serving a 40-year sentence in the Denise Huskins case, had been terrorizing the community for two decades before the widely known "American Nightmare" case, prosecutors said.

Muller appeared in a San Jose courtroom on Monday (6 January), as he faced two felony counts of committing a sexual assault during a home invasion 15 years ago. District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in a press release to ABC7: "The details of this person's violent crime spree seem scripted for Hollywood, but they are tragically real.

Muller was responsible for the 2015 kidnapping and sexual assault of a Northern California woman, initially dismissed as a "hoax" by Vallejo police.
