By Tora Agarwala GUWAHATI (Reuters) -Three miners were feared dead inside a flooded coal mine in a remote district of India's northeastern Assam state, authorities said on Tuesday, and the men were part of a total of nine still trapped as rescue teams worked to reach them.

Six workers are still trapped in the mine while the bodies of two others, whose deaths were confirmed by the state government, are yet to be recovered.

Rescue operations by multiple state and central agencies continued for the fourth day on Thursday (January 9, 2025) to locate trapped miners inside an illegal rat-hole coal mine in Dima Hasao district of Assam,

Rescue teams were working on Tuesday (January 7) to reach nine men trapped in a flooded coal mine in the remote district of Dima Hasao in Assam, India. Authorities said at least three miners were feared dead.

Around 40 people entered the well-shaped mine at around 9am on Monday. The workers likely contacted a source of water which soon flooded the mine.
