More than a tenth of Ohio is now classified as in the highest levels of drought by the U.S. Drought Monitor. Severe drought touches Portage County.

While it has been raining over the last couple of days, the drought monitor still worsened lately, with much of the state being impacted by the dry weather.

There are no big surprises in the latest U.S. Drought Monitor map, released Thursday morning. It shows New Jersey’s drought conditions continue to spread across most of the state. Extremely low rainfall this entire month has resulted in “abnormally dry” conditions across nearly 80% of the Garden State and moderate drought conditions in about 8% of the state,

Despite having seen rain over the last week, parts of Greater Cincinnati are still considered to be in moderate-to-severe drought according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
