On Sunday, legendary musician Elton John took the stage at the Golden Globes to present the award for Best Original Score alongside Brandi Carlile. The public appearance was one of his first since having “lost” his eyesight over the summer, and he took the opportunity to give fans an update on his health and clarify his diagnosis.

The five-time Grammy winner revealed last year that a “severe eye infection” had left him with limited vision in his right eye.
