It may have happened 38 days later, but the version of Rafael Devers the San Francisco Giants had in mind when they traded for him has finally arrived.

Devers has been dealing with a disk injury in his lower back that has limited his production since joining the Giants, hitting .219 with 2 home runs and 10 RBIs in 29 games since the trade.

The 42-year-old Verlander (1-8) had been winless in his first 16 starts, the longest stretch by a Giants pitcher in a single season in franchise history.
