NEW YORK – On Saturday morning, nestled between the USS Intrepid, New York’s Hell’s Kitchen, and the cruise terminal, the Navy’s newest Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, USS John Basilone, was brought to life.

The Navy on Saturday commissioned the USS John Basilone, its latest Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, named in honor of a Marine legend was received the medal of honor for his heroics at Guadalcanal in 1942.
