The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) named a 16-player squad for their Ranji Trophy match against Meghalaya. Notable absences include Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shreyas Iyer after their underwhelming performances against Jammu & Kashmir.

India openers Rohit and Jaiswal played in the Ranji match against Jammu and Kashmir during the big break, but the duo failed to make any impact with the bat.

According to a report, Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shreyas Iyer will miss Mumbai's final group-stage match against Meghalaya, set to begin on Thursday.

Rohit Sharma and other India stars barring Virat Kohli and KL Rahul played the previous round of Ranji Trophy matches. However, the India Test and ODI skipper is unlikely to play next game starting from January 30 against Meghalaya.

The defeat has severely dented the hopes of Mumbai, led by Ajinkya Rahane, of advancing to the quarter-finals of the Ranji Trophy

Mumbai will now need to beat Meghalaya by a big margin and hope for favourable results in other matches to keep their quarter-final hopes alive.

Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer, who played for Mumbai against Jammu and Kashmir, were dropped the match against Meghalaya.

Ahead of their must-win match against Meghalaya, Mumbai have released Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal who are part of the ODI series against England.
