Owners who buy CCS-equipped Kia EVs after September 4, 2024, will be sent free adapters to allow them to use NACS fast-chargers in early 2025.

Kia America has announced that it will begin offering North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters for its electric vehicle models, including the EV6 and EV9, in early 2025. The purpose of these adapters is to increase the number of charging options available to Kia electric vehicle owners across the United States.

Since Tesla's NACS (North American Charging Standard) connection was made into a standard, other EV companies have been rushing to get an adapter out into the world so that their customers can use the various Supercharger locations available around the US.

Kia announced that owners of new EV6 and EV9 delivered after September 4 will get a NACS adapter free of charge, whereas all others will have to pay for it

GM's NACS adapter is compatible with all of its EVs, which now gain access to nearly 18,000 Tesla Superchargers. The adapter costs $225 and can be purchased through the mobile app for each respective GM brand.

GM EV owners in Canada will need to pre-order through a dealer if they want to use the official, GM-approved NACS adapter to plug in at a Tesla Supercharger.

Customers who take delivery of a new 2024 or 2025 Kia EV9 or 2024 Kia EV6 from September 4, 2024, and later, will receive an adapter free of charge that will allow them access to more than 16,500 NACS DC fast chargers in the U.S. Customer delivery of the free adapters is anticipated to take place in early 2025.
