The government will have to meet a high legal bar for the court to agree that any of the grand jury documents should be released—and those materials could still be disappointing.

On Thursday, Donald Trump said he had asked his attorney general to "produce any and all pertinent grand jury testimony" relating to Jeffrey Epstein, "subject to court approval".

Trump quickly responded to the story on his Truth Social platform, saying he would sue the newspaper and Rupert Murdoch, who controls its publisher, News Corp.
