Incoming West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey made the initial round of appointments in his administration public Thursday as he transitions into the new office.

Incoming Governor Patrick Morrisey announced members of his administration leadership team and several cabinet appointments, making the budget, energy, child welfare, and seniors clear priorities as he prepares to take office in 11 days.

“Everyone here reflects an important goal of the administration,” Morrisey said. “We want to make sure that the people coming on board are going to care about repurposing government and rightsizing government and I think every person in the cabinet and the governor’s office care deeply about this.”

Governor-elect Patrick Morrisey held a press conference Thursday and announced 15 appointments for his incoming administration. While Morrisey says “landing teams going through all the departments and major agencies” continue work, his transition team has begun naming officials who will lead the administration.

As the state changes over to 2025 in just over two weeks, Governor-Elect Patrick Morrisey said he will announce changes in state department and agency leadership after the New Year. In a press release Monday morning,
