AFSCME District Council 33, representing more than 9,000 city employees from dispatchers to sanitation, was on strike for eight days.

The city’s largest public sector union and the mayor reached a tentative deal, ending a work stoppage that led to piles of trash on the streets.

Despite a deal to end the strike by members of DC33 in Philadelphia, regular trash collection will not begin right away.
