Anderson "Chase" Childers died while on vacation after rescuing five strangers who trapped in a rip current off the South Carolina coast.

A 9-year-old child died after being pulled from the water at The Boardwalk at Hersheypark, officials confirmed Thursday, July 24. Lifeguards noticed the child in distress and launched an immediate rescue.

Multiple drivers ignored the warning and chanced driving through the high water. Emergency crews warn doing so is incredibly dangerous. The Kansas City Fire Department said it responded to eight water rescues Thursday night into Friday morning. Additional rescues are possible if it continues to rain.

The company said that the three trapped workers are business-partner employees, two from British Columbia and one from Ontario. They were working more than 500 meters (more than a quarter-mile) past the affected zone when the first rocks fell, and were asked to relocate to the refuge before the second rockfall.

Erie-area water rescue crews urge boaters to take the proper safety precautions in the wake of increased call volumes and several recent deaths

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City Fire started the morning early with a report of 8 water rescues beginning at 2:45 a.m. Each of the rescues involved vehicles stuck in high water at various locations throughout the city. KCFD did respond to a vehicle in high water at 3:37 a.m., in the area of I-435 and 23rd Street.

EAST MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - There is an active water rescue happening at Campbell Island Thursday night, law enforcement says. A KWQC crew is on scene and working to learn more. This is a developing story. KWQC will provide updates on-air and online.

A resident of the area told News 8 that three swimmers were caught in the water. Two have been pulled out, with one unaccounted for.
