The president appeared on the newsmagazine Sunday night, one year after suing the CBS show over the editing of a Kamala Harris interview — and he was well aware that his answers would similarly be trimmed for time.
Trump at times went into default mode, which is to say that he blamed Joe Biden or Barack Obama. When it came to the rising cost of health insurance premiums, at the center of the Democrats’ demands to end the government shutdown, Trump pledged that “all they have to do is let the country open and we’ll fix it.”
The president told correspondent Norah O’Donnell that Democratic foe Kamala Harris “failed because she couldn’t speak” and was not “very intelligent.” He pointed to the former vice president’s interview with the CBS news show as an example.
