An apparent dispute between Rockstar and Valve has left Grand Theft Auto 5 to be listed as unsupported by Steam Deck.

A new update for Grand Theft Auto Online has left the game in shambles for players on the Steam Deck. Here is what we know so far!

Surprisingly, Rockstar have now added BattlEye anti-cheat to Grand Theft Auto V, and sadly it seems they have not enabled the support for Linux desktop and Steam Deck with Valve's Proton.

For now, players can still access the single-player mode of GTA V on the Steam Deck. Rockstar Games' FAQ confirms that while Story Mode remains playable, GTA Online will remain inaccessible on the device.

The reason for Valve listing Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) as unsupported is that the developer, Rockstar, has reportedly disrupted compatibility with Valve's handheld for its online modes

The addition of BattlEye anti-cheat to GTA has made the game incompatible with the Steam Deck. Steam Deck players can no longer access the GTA Online portion of the game. Rockstar is blaming Valve, despite other BattlEye games being compatible with the platform.
