YORK COUNTY, Pa. — More seniors are turning to local resources as delays in SNAP benefits leave some struggling to cover meals. The Red Land Senior Center in York County is stepping up to fill that gap, providing daily meals and additional support for older adults.

The government shutdown is affecting SNAP benefits for seniors in Georgia, prompting senior service centers to organize fundraising and food drives to fill the gap.

Starting in November, millions of Americans could lose access to SNAP benefits, commonly known as food stamps.

After noticing a rise in the cry for help, Meals on Wheels South Florida established the Senior SNAP Relief Program. "Over 60, homebound, and in need who have lost their SNAP benefits, we will kick in immediately two weeks' worth of food. Maybe by then it will be ended.
