A fire at a closed ski resort hotel in northwest Turkey has killed an Olympic skier and his father. Thursday's blaze took place two months after a blaze at another Turkish winter resort left 79 dead.

Olympic skier Berkin Usta and his father have died in a fire which broke out at a hotel resort, the Turkish sports minister confirmed on social media Thursday.

Berkin Usta, an Olympic alpine skier who competed in the Beijing Games, and his father were tragically killed in a hotel fire on Thursday, despite the resort being closed in January.
