This week, students and teachers at Alvin ISD's Walt Disney Elementary School will return to class at the former Alvin Elementary School on Tuesday. More than a week ago, a tornado tore the roof off of Disney Elementary School.

Students of Walt Disney Elementary are going back to school at a temporary facility after one of six tornadoes last week in the Houston area hit the school’s campus.

Students at Walt Disney Elementary School in Brazoria County will head back to class next week after their school was damaged in a tornado last weekend. But they'll go to the old Alvin Elementary School for the meantime until the school is repaired.

Corey’s Kitchen, a local restaurant in town, said it is donating part of the sales of its weekly special to help teachers at Walt Disney Elementary School.

The tornadoes that swept through the Houston area on Dec. 28 caused significant damage to Walt Disney Elementary in Alvin, and now school district leaders are spearheading recovery efforts.

Walt Disney Elementary School students and teachers are supposed to return to class next Tuesday, but it won't be at their actual school. Walt Disney Elementary School in Alvin ISD suffered major damage in Saturday's tornado outbreak.
