Former Penn State running back Saquon Barkley was given the play of the year award at the ESPYS, hosted on July 16. This comes after a year of winning the Super Bowl and being named the AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year .

On July 16, Barkley learned that he would be making room for one more thing on the mantel – the ESPYS' "Best NFL Player" award. Barkley received the award over fellow nominees Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and Patrick Surtain II.

Barkley's reverse hurdle during last season's Week 9 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars has won 'Best Play' at the 2025 ESPY Awards. One of the most memorable plays in NFL history will also grace the cover of Madden NFL 26, releasing early next month.
