Netflix has ordered the limited series adaptation of East of Eden and set Mike Faist and Hoon Lee to join Christopher Abbott and Florence Pugh in the all-star ensemble. Zoe Kazan is writing and exec producing and Pugh is also on board to exec produce. Jeb Stuart will co-show run.

Per Variety, this forthcoming, seven-part reimagining of John Steinbeck’s 1952 magnum opus will “explore the multigenerational saga of the Trask family,” farmers who settle in California’s Salinas Valley in the early 20th century, “focusing new attention on its indelible antihero, Cathy Ames.”

The series will be a seven-part limited adaptation of the classic novel. The book was last made into a movie by Zoe’s grandfather, Elia Kazan in 1955. Steinbeck inspired Zoe Kazan and has announced why she has taken the adaptation of East of Eden for her new series. Speaking with Deadline she said;
