Hundreds of jovial fans and students gathered around campus after Ohio State’s 34-23 victory over Notre Dame on Monday night flocked to Ohio Stadium and broke through a gate to continue the celebration inside “The Shoe,” despite the temperature in Columbus reaching as low as -5 F.

The celebrations for Ohio State’s national championship began as soon as the game ended Monday night in Atlanta, with fans entering and storming the field at Ohio Stadium, and they’ll continue at least through this weekend here in Columbus.

The Ohio State Buckeyes clinched their ninth national championship with a 34-23 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Monday night, adding another title to their storied history. This victory marked their first College Football Playoff (CFP) national championship since 2014, the very first year the CFP was introduced.

The College Football Playoff Championship game is being held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Downtown Atlanta, marking the second time the event has taken place there.
