Outside of football, Payton is a father to his daughter Meghan and son Connor. Over the years, they’ve been alongside him through his career highs and lows, building their own lives while sharing his love for sports. Meghan has pursued a career in media, while Connor is working toward a job in an NFL front office.

Following Bo Nix’s hand-off to running back Javonte Williams, the Broncos quarterback took off for the goal line. Simultaneously, Williams tossed the ball to Courtland Sutton, who delivered a spiral under heavy pressure to Nix for a leaping 2-yard touchdown catch.

After Denver’s 28-14 win over the the Panthers at Empower Field at Mile High, Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn yelled at Payton that the Broncos were “trying to run the score up” while some of his teammates also were sounding off. Payton then jawed back at Horn.
