Underwater was meant to be an homage to sci-fi horror films like Alien, but it didn't quite succeed. What happened, and is it any better five years later?

After an earthquake destroys their underwater station, six researchers must navigate two miles along the dangerous, unknown depths of the ocean floor to make it to safety in a race against time.

Although this is definitely not the start of another great monster-movie franchise, Underwater is still worth a watch on the big screen just to enjoy the superior cinematography.
