Joanna Ransley of Florida was headed to Charleston on Thursday. She said she and three friends from Orlando, all who were in need of a getaway, had planned to meet in Charleston, but the rain changed their plans.

More than a tenth of Ohio is now classified as in the highest levels of drought by the U.S. Drought Monitor. Severe drought touches Portage County.

Many areas of New Jersey have had less than one-tenth of an inch of rain this entire month, although some rain showers are expected Thursday and Friday.

While it has been raining over the last couple of days, the drought monitor still worsened lately, with much of the state being impacted by the dry weather.
