Andrew Christian Engel of San Diego was shot after police responded just before 7 p.m. Monday to an apartment on E Street east of Eleventh Avenue in the East Village for reports of a “suicidal male.”

Officers Gavin Isa and Eric Moreno shot and killed Andrew Christian Engel, 26, at an East Village apartment earlier this week. Isa and Moreno have both been with the San Diego Police Department for 4 1/2 years.

An armed man who was shot and killed by police earlier this week inside an East Village apartment building has been identified.

A man, who was described as suicidal, is dead after police shot and killed him after he was threatening officers with a knife, San Diego County Sheriff's said.
