New York Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt is likely facing Tommy John surgery to repair the torn UCL in his pitching elbow, Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Saturday

The New York Yankees’ pursuit of stability atop the American League East has been dealt yet another blow, as emerging rotation stalwart Clarke Schmidt is set to miss the remainder of the season following an ulnar collateral ligament tear in his right elbow.

One day after he was placed on the injured list with forearm tightness, it was determined that New York Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt likely will undergo Tommy John surgery. Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Saturday afternoon that Schmidt has a tear in the ulnar collateral ligament of his right elbow.
