Sewald was placed on the 60-day injured and won’t be back from a shoulder strain until September. Montero and Finnegan will join the Tigers in Philadelphia on Friday. The Tigers still need to drop one player from the active roster to accommodate the new additions.

After already adding Luke Jackson, Rafael Montero and Paul Sewald to the mix, the Tigers on Thursday acquired right-hander Kyle Finnegan, 33, from the Washington Nationals, a source confirmed to The Detroit News. In exchange the Tigers sent to the Nationals High-A pitching prospects Josh Randall and RJ Sales.
