Mets Make Pete Alonso Announcement After Hand Injury originally appeared on Athlon Sports. New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is back in the lineup and will start Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels, the team confirmed on X. He'll bat fourth behind Juan Soto.

Mets’ Edwin Diaz open to playing in World Baseball Classic again despite previous freak injury
Despite how his last World Baseball Classic experience ended, Edwin Díaz said he is hopeful but not 100 percent sure he will play in the 2026 WBC for Puerto Rico.

Wright missed more than four months of the 2015 season, diagnosed with spinal stenosis, before he returned to the lineup in late August, with the Mets holding a healthy lead in the NL East. Collins recalled Wright telling him he didn’t expect to hit in the middle of the lineup when he came back or disturb the way they were performing.
Thankfully for the Mets, Díaz is as good as ever. Díaz recently earned his third All-Star selection and entered Friday owning a 1.55 ERA and a 61-14 K-BB ratio in 40 2/3 innings. Díaz owns 21 saves and, barring injury, should record his most saves since joining the Mets ahead of the 2019 season.
