The Dauphin County coroner’s office on Monday night released the cause and manner of death for Sophia Subedi, who died after falling unconscious in the wave pool Thursday night at Hersheypark. She was a member of the Bhutanese community.

The Dauphin County Coroner’s office cited “fresh water drowning” as the cause of death for a child after an incident at Hersheypark last week. The coroner’s office says the manner of death for 9-year-old Sophia Subedi was ruled “accidental” and that the child did not experience a medical event that caused the drowning.
