That month in the minors sure seems to be paying dividends for Francisco Alvarez. In his second game since being recalled, the third-year catcher keyed the Mets’ 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night with a crucial two-run home run.

Brett Baty, Francisco Alvarez and Ronny Mauricio – hitting seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively – came through with clutch two-out hits in a three-run fifth where the Mets took the lead and never looked back en route to a 3-2 win in front of an announced sell-out crowd of 43,055 at Citi Field.
