Starling Marte is set to return to the New York Mets' lineup on Tuesday after battling a bruised knee, leading to Jared Young losing his big league roster spot.

Designated hitter Starling Marte was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday by the New York Mets. Marte was available off the bench against the Los Angeles Angels. The 36-year-old veteran outfielder had been sidelined since July 7 with a bruised right knee.

Francisco Alvarez hit a tying homer in his second game back from the minors and Ryne Stanek retired Mike Trout with two runners aboard for the final out as the New York Mets rallied to beat the Los Angeles Angels 3-2.

On Monday night, Francisco Alvarez made his return after spending nearly a month with Triple-A Syracuse and a big double and scored two runs. Juan Soto tied the game with a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning and Brett Baty scored the go-ahead run on a ground ball to the left side one inning later.
