The Philadelphia Phillies, desperate for bullpen help, are reportedly signing veteran free agent David Robertson, per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

Dombrowski is regularly aggressive at the trade deadline. August 2024 saw a bullpen makeover, Seranthony Dominguez and Gregory Soto departing for Carlos Estevez and Tanner Banks. In 2023, the team got starter Michael Lorenzen to fill a need.

A day after signing veteran David Robertson to help fortify a shaky bullpen, the Phillies placed reliever Joe Ross on the injured list with back spasms. Ross had operated mostly as a long man this year - recording more than three outs in 13 occasions - and hasn’t been overly effective. He has a 2-1 record and 5.28 ERA.
