Grant Ellis is sharing what fans can expect from his upcoming season of " The Bachelor ," which premieres Monday night. The new bachelor, who is a day trader and former pro basketball player from New Jersey, sat down with "Good Morning America" to give a small preview of his season.

"People are going to see my character onscreen and how I handle situations, and hopefully that’s what makes them proud regardless of what color I am," says the star of season 29, which premiered Monday.

Bachelor Grant Ellis also tells PEOPLE that he wanted to "take things slow" in the Fantasy Suites because "I think a lot of times when you initiate the physical part, it could cause you to make really bad decisions.
