The inexpensive Federals have brass plated heads on the shells. Some guns don't have any problems with the Winchesters, but other guns hate them.

Oct 30, 2019 · My kids both learned on a Tristar Viper 20g (short barrel and youth stock) and after the first couple boxes it has run flawlessly. At $288 you can't make that big a mistake. I don't have any idea what the gun will look like after 100K rounds, but for hunting and an occasional trip to break some clays it probably won't see 1000 rounds in a year.

May 12, 2017 · Way overdue here, but my local Walmart sells 16 gauge as well. I commonly see Federal and Winchester Super X there for reasonable prices - the Federal is about $7.25 a box (which is stupidly cheap compared to most other prices I see) and the Super X is the more typical $11.75. Both are 1 oz loads, the Federal of 7 1/2 and the Winchester of 8 shot.
